When Elizabeth got home, her cousin was already there, and had obviously had too much to drink.

“Where've you been?” her cousin asked, slurring her words.

“I told you, I went with Frankie for a while.”

“Oh yeah. Frankie. He's a little creepy. How did it go?”

“He's actually very nice. I'm meeting him tomorrow for dinner downtown.”

“Downtown? What kind of dinner are you going to get downtown? Plus, he doesn't have any money.”

“That doesn't matter,” Elizabeth said, waving her hand, “I just want to get to know him better.”

“I think he was the guy who got in trouble for fooling around at that old house. Said there were ghosts. He found a bunch of skeletons.”

“He didn't say anything about that, but I suppose he will in his own good time.”

Her cousin shrugged. “If you say so.”

“I say so.”

“All right, if that's what you want. Now I think I should go to bed.”

“So do I.”

Elizabeth laid on her back on the bed staring at the ceiling. The previous occupant of this room must have been a kid. The ceiling was dotted with glow-in-the-dark stars and planets. In the dark they looked rather cool, and she enjoyed them. Maybe she would get them for her own room.

Her cousin was right, Frankie was a little out of the ordinary, although ‘creepy', was not the right word. She was quite tired of ordinary. If you wanted ordinary, all you had to do was pluck it from the trees. Out of the ordinary, though, was hard to find. It seemed to her that they had a lot in common.
